I've heard you spend a lot of time
in your acting classes doing scene work and script analysis.
How does this work?
The Beginning workshops work on fundamentals
of script analysis, technique, and improvisational work
and cold readings.
Both the Intermediate and Advanced
workshops alternate weekly on prepared work.
This allows two weeks for preparation
on the prepared work over a six-week period. (For this
reason, you must commit to 2 months of acting classes.)
You should have a minimum of THREE GOOD rehearsals within
each two-week period.
Monologues should be no longer than
2 minutes, scenes no longer than 5 minutes.
Upon the first performance of the
scene or monologue you should have rehearsed and done
basic work on you selection but it does not need to
be memorized.
Upon the second performance, your
piece must be memorized and blocked and you should have
props and costumes. Upon the third (final) performance,
your scene or monologue should now be a finished product
and a high quality performance.
After the third performance you will
select a new monologue or scene and begin the cycle
again.
